What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is talk therapy with a licensed, experienced professional. Psychotherapy is designed to alleviate unwanted symptoms, change disruptive or dysfunctional behaviors and help with various mental health and relationship issues. There are several modalities: individual, couples, family and group.

How do I find a psychotherapist that is right for me?
The concept of "the right" psychotherapist is highly individualized. Some traits that we recommend are:
  • proper certification and training
  • extensive experience
  • highly skilled
  • compassionate
  • ultimately working with the therapist will be your best guide
In addition, the fee should not be so high that it prevents you from securing the help you need.

Why choose a MPFC psychotherapist?
Our psychotherapists:
  • are certified and highly trained
  • have broad experience working with a wide variety of clients and their concerns
  • have extensive experience in group treatment and addiction issues
  • continue their professional growth and keep current with new developments in their field
  • have demonstrated good results with the thousands of clients that they have collectively treated
  • are compassionate and caring
  • consult regularly to discuss new approaches to difficult problem areas

Does it make sense to pick my therapist from the web?
The web opens the door to a far wider universe of psychotherapists than you would be able to locate through any other channel. Just as in using any other specialist, however, you need to make sure the psychotherapist has the proper credentials. Ultimately, your experience one-on-one with the psychotherapist will be your best guide.

How much will I pay for psychotherapy with MPFC?
Your first session with our psychotherapist is considered a consultation session. The cost of this initial consultation is $95. Additional psychotherapy sessions will be priced according to the modality of service you will receive, as well as your personal finances.

Do you accept health insurance?
Members in our practice are all insurance reimbursable. Our psychotherapists will provide you with a bill so you may claim reimbursement* from your health insurance plan.

*contact your health plan to find out if you are covered for mental health benefits and if it allows you to choose your own therapist referred to as "out of network provider" rather than using their network of therapists.
